One Minute Silence at Wilton Tennis Club

October 3rd, 2011

I’ve been invited to perform my One Minute Silence at Wilton Tennis Club in Wimbledon by the wonderful Terry Oakes, who saw the show in Edinburgh.

And there’s going to be a BUFFET!

It’s all happening on Saturday 8th October: Doors 7pm, Buffet 7.30, Show 8.30.

It seems the tennis fans are super keen and the show has nearly sold out, but there are still a few tickets available here:

Edinburgh 2011

September 13th, 2011

Well, I’m back from doing my One Minute Silence show in Edinburgh and I had lots of fun.

Here are some things said about me in the press:

“An absolute delight to watch. Fantastically ditzy and spectacularly absurd, this meandering whirligig of a show leaves you feeling a little bit dizzy and a big bit happy. A joy to behold.” The Skinny

“Highly Recommended”-Times Festivals

“Truly, Mabey’s dippy mind produces some of the most bewildering and wonderful lines you could hope to topple from a person’s mouth” EdFest Magazine

“Brilliantly Funny… Wonderfully silly… Genuinely inspired” Fringe Guru

“Hints of Will Adamsdale, reminiscent of Greg Davies… entertaining and unique” Chortle

And I was recommended in Time Out’s Top 25 Comedy Shows of Edinburgh 2011

I also did lots of other gigs including this crazy chat show with folklore legend Lorraine Chase:

New Show Title Revealed: Caroline Mabey’s One Minute Silence

April 19th, 2011

I know! It’s too exciting. Isn’t it? I’m going wild and taking the ultimate challenge this year in a mind-bending, world record-breaking attempt to be quiet for a bit. Kip the Coffee Pot and Mr Skrangles will be on hand as I utilise all the latest fully scientific super-methods to remain silent for up to sixty seconds. You simply won’t believe your ears.

This year’s David Blaine.

And to scintillate your eyes just a little bit here’s a taste of some of the brilliant photos taken by Idil Sukan at my photoshoot last week.

Thanks to Kevin at Speedyhire in Wandsworth for lending me the manly Road Breaker, and to Mark Allan from the Bollywood Brass Band for the super sousaphone.

Now that I’ve had some photos done, I might as well write a show. Why not help me create the magic by coming to a preview, where you can be part of an elite force or super-audients whose reactions to early versions can determine the outcome of the final piece? Truly a great privilege.

I’m doing double bills with some really excellent and inventive comics so come and see two work in progress shows for cheap/ ono.

Thursday 21st April- Double bill with SARA PASCOE VS. THE APOCALYPSE- Camden Head (Formerly Liberties Bar) Camden High St, London NW1 0LU- 8pm- £5 ono

Wednesday 27th April- Double bill with LOU SANDERS in HOW TO BE AWESOME: AN INTRODUCTION- Betsey Trotwood Cellar Bar, 56 Farringdon Road, EC1R 3BL- £4 ono

Tuesday 10th May- Double bill with PAUL McCAFFREY- Betsey Trotwood Cellar Bar, 56 Farringdon Road, EC1R 3BL- 8pm- £4 ono

Friday 27th May- Double bill with TBC- Camden Head (Formerly Liberties Bar) Camden High St, NW1 0LU- 8pm

Tuesday 31st May- Double bill with JAMES ACASTER- Betsey Trotwood Cellar Bar, 56 Farringdon Road, EC1R 3BL- 8pm

I’m still saving up for Easter and it’s time already to start previewing for the Edinburgh festival. Wed 23rd March, Double bill with Pat Burtscher’s Waffle House:“Undeniably funny” – Chortle

Wed 6th April, Double bill with Brett Goldstein Grew Up in a Strip Club: “A performance dynamo, with punchily amusing material to match.” – Chortle

Edinburgh Fun

October 16th, 2010

Whoops! I forgot to say what fun I had at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. Had a lovely run in the sweaty foggy Caves and got some nice reviews:

“Truly scrumptious… Kooky, quirky and delicious fun” – Tim Arthur, Time Out

“Inspired hilarity… oddball genius from an always-intriguing performer.”
- Steve Bennett, Chortle

My favourite new fans Andy and Gwen came to see the show four times and Andy was the only person to turn up wearing the cut-out-and-keep Mr Skrangles brooch. I was very excited when he went one step further and made himself a Mr Skrangles t-shirt and mug:

I did the show again in London in September at the lovely Leicester Square Theatre in September and there are two more dates coming up which I shall announce imminently….

2010 Edinburgh Show- Caroline Mabey: Eat Your Friends

My show will be at Just the Tonic at The Caves at 4.35pm every day from 5th-29th (not 17th). It’s about breakfast- don’t be afraid!
