EDINBURGH 2015 Here I come!

April 24th, 2015

Oh hi. Last year’s short Edinburgh run was such a secret, silent success that I have decided to take up a new, uber version of my Chaos show for the full run this August. AND I am also doing an exciting new show with Michael Legge, called Two Stupids, which is basically all the stuff that is too stupid to go into our “proper” shows. We are still imagining it and I can’t wait to find out what it’s going to be.

New Edinburgh Show- Chaos is a Friend of Mine

June 11th, 2014

I am very excited to be taking my brand new show to the Edinburgh Fringe in August after a two year break. It’s only a 9 day run as I couldn’t get a babysitter.

CAROLINE MABEY: CHAOS IS A FRIEND OF MINE

2.15pm, Cowgatehead, Sat 9th-Sun 17th August 2014- FREE!

Photo by Idil Sukan at Draw HQ

Here’s the blurb:

When “oddball genius” (Chortle) Caroline Mabey became a mother, she discovered that idiocy and egomania are genetic. Held hostage by her baby, she’s become a victim of Stockholm-or is it Tourettes?- syndrome. Here she bursts out of confinement to delight and traumatise audiences in this thrillingly daft one-woman stand-up fun-blast.

‘Kooky, quirky and delicious’ (Time Out)

‘The slightly deranged offspring of a menage à trois between Vic Reeves, Harry Hill and Floella Benjamin’ (Evening Standard)

‘An Absolute delight to watch. Fantastically ditzy and spectacularly absurd… Leaves you feeling a little bit dizzy and a big bit happy’ (The Skinny)

Here it is on edfringe.com

You can’t buy tickets because it’s FREE!

As part of La Favorita Freestival

2.15pm Cowgatehead, Space 3 (venue 32),

News

September 9th, 2013

I haven’t made any announcements here for some time and the reason is that I had a baby last year. Congratulations! Thank you! I only did it to get out of doing the Edinburgh Festival, which is hard work (especially for the audience). And it’s turned out very well, as since I had her, I haven’t been able to do ANYTHING at all (least of all update my website).

That’s not strictly true, baby has brought chaos to my life but I have still been doing lots of gigs, in various states of dishevelment. It’s just I haven’t had time to do the gigs AND announce them, it was one or the other, so I chose to do them unannounced rather than to announce them undone.

Baby*

I intend to start updating the upcoming gigs page imminently. In the meantime, please forgive me (and my child). I am available for gigs, cakes and mother and baby trumpet classes. If you’d like to invite me to any of those please get in touch here.

*This is not a picture of my baby. It’s just a baby off the internet. They all look the same to me.

One Minute Silence at Phoenix Artists Club- Thursday 13th October

October 3rd, 2011

Another chance to see Caroline Mabey’s One Minute Silence, featuring my animated sidekicks Kip the Coffeepot and Mr Skrangles. Together we attempt to train the audience to achieve the mind-bending super-stunt of remaining silent for sixty seconds. It really is unspeakably good. Like this year’s David Blaine.

Come!

Thursday 13th October

Phoenix Artists Club
1 Phoenix St (Corner of Charing Cross Rd)
London
WC2H 8BU
(Nearest Tube Leicester Square/ Tottenham Court Rd)

Doors 7.30, Show 8pm

Tickets are only £5. That’s a total bargain.

One Minute Silence at Wilton Tennis Club

October 3rd, 2011

I’ve been invited to perform my One Minute Silence at Wilton Tennis Club in Wimbledon by the wonderful Terry Oakes, who saw the show in Edinburgh.

And there’s going to be a BUFFET!

It’s all happening on Saturday 8th October: Doors 7pm, Buffet 7.30, Show 8.30.

It seems the tennis fans are super keen and the show has nearly sold out, but there are still a few tickets available here:

BOING!

Edinburgh 2011

September 13th, 2011

Well, I’m back from doing my One Minute Silence show in Edinburgh and I had lots of fun.

Here are some things said about me in the press:

“An absolute delight to watch. Fantastically ditzy and spectacularly absurd, this meandering whirligig of a show leaves you feeling a little bit dizzy and a big bit happy. A joy to behold.” The Skinny

“Highly Recommended”-Times Festivals

“Truly, Mabey’s dippy mind produces some of the most bewildering and wonderful lines you could hope to topple from a person’s mouth” EdFest Magazine

“Brilliantly Funny… Wonderfully silly… Genuinely inspired” Fringe Guru

“Hints of Will Adamsdale, reminiscent of Greg Davies… entertaining and unique” Chortle

And I was recommended in Time Out’s Top 25 Comedy Shows of Edinburgh 2011

I also did lots of other gigs including this crazy chat show with folklore legend Lorraine Chase:

My preview in Nottingham this Sunday 24th July has been cancelled but I am having a TOP SECRET one for friends and aquaintances at the Hackney home of lunatic trumpeter Steve Pretty on Trumpet. It’ll be a double bill with his lovely show. Message me if you are interested in  coming…

Love you, bye!
